Sýnin - Take-down Bowie

Status: AVAILABLE

Sýnin is a take-down Bowie knife and is one of the most difficult and challenging projects I have done up to now. It’s name comes from the norway  “sýn”, which means "vision". It represents my concept of functional art: a piece fueled with creativity but still a reliable and performant tool. This knife is mainly designed for combat and fighting.

The damascus steel is forged by Fucina Fogonero using 1095/15n20/1084 (58 HRC) and it is flat ground. All the fittings are satin finished 416 stainless steel with mirror polished grooves and edges. The handle is a heirloom fit blue marble-resembling stabilized maple burl. The sheath is made from 3.5 mm (9-10 oz) thick hand-stitched vegetable tanned leather with tooling. The knife is secured in the sheath by a stainless steel stud.

The handle can be took down in all his parts just by unlocking the pommel nut, then all the pieces can be put together again guided by hardened steel alignment pins.
